Day 26, Navasota, Tx, 66 miles, 1,143 miles total
It was nice to be back on the road today after yesterday's unscheduled day off. I was on Hwy 105 all day. It's a nice 2-lane highway with great shoulders almost everywhere.
About 20 miles into the ride I came to Conroe, which is where the flat riding ended. The rest of the way had rolling hills, although they weren't very big. But I suspect they will get bigger over the next couple of days as I get into Austin and, after that, the real climbing will begin.

A roadside ranch
It's green and pretty around here.
In Conroe there is a big lake that is lined with nice houses, a marina and lots of private docks. When I was researching places to retire I'd read about these lakes in Texas, and they intrigued me. There are others up near Dallas, and probably in other locations as well. Living on the water has always been alluring to me.
Lake Conroe
Private covered slips for the beachfront houses
And a marina
And shops and restaurants
This is one of the nicest areas I've ridden through on this tour so far. I wouldn't mind spending some time here someday.
I'm two days from Austin now. It will be great to finally see it. I've heard for years that it's a great place.

Check out the music there...
