Day 2 - Gainesville, FL, 60 miles, 103 miles total

They sure have nice campsites here in Florida

So I lied about camping tonight.  I intended to, but when I got to the campground it wasn't there.  At least I couldn't find it.  It should have been the easiest campground in the world to find.  It was on the highway with nothing else around but a lakeside park a little further down.  When I got to the park I sat on a bench with my phone trying to figure out where I went wrong, but the only thing I saw where Mr. Google said it was, was somebody's house.

Maybe that was it, but there were no signs at all.  I could have called them and asked, but honestly the thought of sweltering in a hot tent was losing its luster, as the sweat dripped off of me nearly everywhere.  And when I noticed about 25 of the fastest moving ants I'd ever seen scampering up my legs, the deal was sealed.  So I'm luxuriating in a Hilton across the street from the University of Florida, home of the Gators.

Physically I had no issues today, which was a little surprising considering yesterday's leg cramps (I had another one last night).  I downed a full gallon of Gatorade today though, and I think that made the difference.

A few sights along the way:

This paint is actually raised, making this a rumble strip that rattled my teeth

So...is the house for sale or the wife?

Why does he get a cave while she only gets a shed?

  1. Gary, get some pickle juice for the cramps. Really works.

    1. Thanks for the tip. Never heard that one before. Thankfully I haven't had any more cramps since then but will keep the pickle juice in mind.
